News: Nano Assault and Castlevania hit the Nintendo eShop this week

nano_assault_exShin’en Multimedia’s Nano Assault series is finally heading to Nintendo 3DS in Europe. Specifically, Nano Assault EX is coming to the Nintendo eShop as a £12.49 download – which isn’t half bad, considering it was originally a full-priced retail release in North America, and this download version features improvements to the frame rate, graphics and online leaderboards, additional content, and Circle Pad Pro support.

The second and final original download to arrive on 3DS this week is Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate, which arrives at midnight on Friday to coincide with the launch of the game at retail. It’s a 2D sequel to 2010’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, which was a 3D re-imagining of the classic 2D series which made its debut on the NES. Slightly confusing, but you can head over to the Nintendo eShop and download a demo to see what it’s all about ahead of release date.

Finally, Legend of the River King from Natsume and D4 Enterprise’s Metal Slug 4 arrive on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii Virtual Console services respectively. The former is a “unique role-playing adventure”, which seemingly borrows a lot from the Harvest Moon series: “Endure a perilous quest, angling through streams, rivers and raging rapids. Sell your fish at local supermarkets to buy supplies, and do battle with local predators trying to steal your catch”. The latter, meanwhile, is a side-scrolling run-and-gunner, featuring an “all-new Metallish System, an interesting bonus scoring system that puts a new spin on things”.

And that’s all for this week. Anything you plan on downloading from the eShop this week?
