For the first time in series history, additional characters, courses and karts are heading to Mario Kart 8, in the form of paid downloadable content.
The game’s recent software update added an in-game shop, which is currently offering two downloadable packs, priced at £7 each, or £11 for both. The first – The Legend of Zelda X Mario Kart 8 – will launch in November, boasting eight tracks, four vehicles, and three new playable characters: Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach and Zelda series hero Link.
Then, in May 2015, Animal Crossing X Mario Kart 8 launches, bringing Animal Crossing’s adorable Isabelle and Villager characters, along with… Dry Bowser. Makes sense! Once again though, these characters will be bringing along yet another eight courses and four vehicles.
And, as a bonus for pre-purchasing both DLC packs – either as a bundle or separately – you’ll immediately gain access to eight different-coloured Yoshis and Shy Guys.
This news follows the previously announced Mercedes Benz DLC, which launches today, so launch your copy of the game from the Wii U menu and accept the software update to gain access to this, the new in-game shop, and a few other tweaks and fixes.
