Dragon Quest X heading to Nintendo 3DS in September

Square Enix has announced that it’s porting Dragon Quest X to Nintendo 3DS, continuing its support of the subscription-based game.

The RPG is a Massively Multiplayer Online game, with cross-platform play on offer between the new 3DS version and all previous iterations – including Wii U and PC.

Interestingly, some of the game’s graphics will be streamed via the internet, enhancing the visuals to beyond the 3DS hardware’s capabilities.

The handheld version of Dragon Quest X is launching in Japan on 4th September, bundled with a sixty day subscription to the game’s online service, a poster, and a selection of in-game items.

While it’s still unannounced for Western territories, the success of Dragon Quest IX on DS overseas makes us hopeful that a localisation of the 3DS version is announced soon.
