All the way back in 2010, at Level-5’s Vision conference, Professor Layton Vs. Phoenix Wright was announced for the 3DS in Japan. For years there was no word of localisation apart from a poll held by Capcom to see which Japan-only game fans would like to see. Layton Vs. Wright won with over 7000 votes but no confirmation came from Capcom or Nintendo. The game released in Japan on November 29, 2012 and thus many people assumed we would never see it in the West.
Needless to say it came as a surprise when Nintendo Europe President Satoru Shibata interrupted today’s Direct presentation with an “Objection!”. He announced the localisation sporting a recreation of Phoenix’s hair from the series, telling us that Professor Layton Vs. Phoenix Wright will be arriving in Europe early 2014.
This will be the last time we ever see Layton, after his final main-series game, Azran Legacy, arrives on 8th November
