The long-awaited EarthBound, which originally hit the Japanese market in 1995, is finally making its way to Europe for the first time. Confirmed during today’s surprise Nintendo Direct Mini presentation, the classic SNES title is available to download via the Wii U eShop in both Europe and North America now; alongside this week’s other new additions which include Donkey Kong for 30p, and WayForward’s original Shantae on 3DS.
Also on 3DS, it’s been confirmed that SEGA will be giving a selection of its retro titles a 3D make-over, with the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog, Space Harrier and Ecco the Dolphin joining Kid Icarus, Excitebike and Kirby in the 3D Classics series soon.
Back to Wii U, and Nintendo’s revealed a nifty promotion for those that intend to purchase two of the Wii U’s biggest upcoming games via the Nintendo eShop. If you download Pikmin 3 – which launches next week – before 21st September, you’ll be entitled to a 30% discount when you purchase The Wonderful 101.
And finally, a trio of download-only games from third-parties are lined up to arrive in the Wii eShop next month: Pwnee Studios’ Cloudberry Kingdom arrives on 1st August, following a slight delay to go multi-platform since Ubisoft picked up publishing duties; while Capcom and WayForward’s DuckTales: Remastered follows on 15th, with the quirky Spin the Bottle: Bumpie’s Party still un-dated, but confirmed to be launching before September.
