Super Ubie Land is a 2D platformer, emerging from a Kickstarter campaign which finished back in April. The project’s goal was completely funded, allowing the game to be eventually released on PC and the Wii U eShop. Since then, the game’s struggled with controversy regarding its previous name, Super Ubi Land with the massive French publisher Ubisoft getting involved and causing the eventual name change.
The game’s Kickstarter page states Super Ubie Land is a “gaming love-letter to the classic 2D platformers of the early and mid-90s like Super Mario Bros 3, DKCountry, and Kirby’s Adventure”. Now that sounds like something to be excited about. A brand-new trailer was released a couple of days back. You can watch it below:
Super Ubie Land will release 13th August on Windows, Mac, and Linux, with a Wii U version still in development, it’s expected to hit the platform sometime during the Fall. The developer also had previously noted that eventually, it’d like to see the game released on the 3DS, so we’ll see what happens.
