Planes is an upcoming Disney Pixar film that’s set to hit cinemas on 16th August. Ten days prior to that, four games of the same title will launch exclusively on Nintendo platforms – Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, Wii and DS.
Set in the skies above the world of Cars, Disney describes the upcoming games as “flying adventures”, in which you’ll pilot a number of the film’s characters.
The Wii U and Wii versions are being developed by Behaviour Interactive, having worked on Brave, Kim Possible and High School Musical tie-ins for Disney in the past. Perhaps most interestingly, however, Tose Company – the studio behind Nintendo’s Super Princess Peach and Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters – is currently hard at work on the handheld iterations.
Can this game sky-rocket to success, or will it plummet to its doom, as with too many other movie tie-in video games?
