According to German website 4players.de, SEGA of Europe has been in touch with German retailers to inform them that Aliens: Colonial Marines for Wii U has been cancelled, after recently missing its announced Q1 2013 release date.
Gearbox Software’s Randy Pitchford had previously made claims that Nintendo fans would have the definitive version, with superior graphics and excellent implementation of the Wii U GamePad. Of course, it later turned out that Gearbox had been spending SEGA’s funding on its then-upcoming Borderlands 2, while the Wii U version of Colonial Marines had been outsourced to Demiurge Studios – a developer that worked on BioShock and the PC port of Mass Effect.
It’s not hard to see why SEGA would cancel Colonial Marines on Wii U – anyone that was interested in the game before reviews landed would have played the game on PC, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, while anyone holding out for the Wii U version were hopefully put off based on the reception of other versions. With that said, were you hoping to try it out on Wii U?
