Following the success of Batman: Arkham Asylum and its sequel, Arkham City – which was released as a Wii U launch title a year after its debut on other platforms – a franchise license holder has confirmed that a third game set in the Arkham universe is set to make an appearance at some point during 2013.
John K. Martin, Time Warner’s CFO and chief administrative officer, revealed this information in an investor’s call:
“And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise. So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012.”
However, it’s said that the previous two games’ developer, Rocksteady, is sitting this one out, with development being handled by another – as yet unconfirmed – studio.
Of course, no platforms have been mentioned yet either; whether this is a current- or next-gen PlayStation/Xbox title, though, would it be too unreasonable to expect it to arrive on Wii U?
