News: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate’s multiplayer will be region locked

monster_hunter_3_ultimateCapcom’s Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is arriving on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS next month, and while the handheld version’s co-op mode is local-only, online multiplayer was a huge selling point in the Wii original – Monster Hunter Tri – and that will surely be the case with the HD remake, too.

However, it’s been revealed that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate’s online servers will be region locked, meaning that multiplayer matches across the Atlantic are sadly off the cards.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is out on 22nd March, and will feature voice chat via the GamePad’s microphone, with a day-one patch adding USB keyboard support.

How does this affect you – dealbreaker?

    • Indeed. Monster Hunter Tri’s servers were also region locked, and that had an active online community for years after its release – and may still have now?
