News: Masuda Wants to Localise Rhythm Hunter: HarmoKnight

Confirmed as Game Freak’s debut Nintendo 3DS title during a recent Japanese Nintendo Direct presentation, Rhythm Hunter: HarmoKnight later released in Japan on 5th September.

Unfortunately, there was no European or North American Nintendo Direct to coincide with Japan’s, and as such, a localisation of The Pokémon Company’s intriguing rhythm-platform crossover remains unannounced. However, that’s not to say that the game is definitely Japan-bound forever, as HarmoKnight’s producer, Junichi Masuda, has expressed an interest in releasing the game overseas.

“In terms of a North American or European release, it’s definitely something we’d like to do, but we’re working out the details with Nintendo now and seeing what would be the best way to get that to players.”

With a variety of gameplay modes, colourful graphics, and a soundtrack which features tunes from the much-loved Pokémon series, HarmoKnight looks to be an essential purchase for Japanese players, and could be a vital asset for the Nintendo eShop in other territories – let’s hope Game Freak and Nintendo can work out the details as soon as possible.
