News: Nintendo Relaunches Pokémon Global Link Website

Since the launch of the original Pokémon Black and White versions, Pokémon trainers have had access to the Pokémon Global Link website. Playing host to interactivity between the website and trainers’ individual games, users have previously had access to the Pokémon Dream World – a unique way to collect Pokémon and items which may be difficult to find in-game, and the Pokémon Global Battle Union which tracks your in-game online battles and provides an interface which allows you to monitor your statistics.

To mark the launch of these games’ sequels, Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, the Global Link website is currently undergoing scheduled maintenance as follows:

US: Tuesdays: 2:00 a.m. EST to 8:00 p.m. EST
UK: 07:00 Tuesday to 01:00 Wednesday
Australia: 15:00 Tuesday to 9:00 Wednesday (AWST)

The update will add compatibility with the new Pokémon games, as well as include some improvements and enhancements to existing features, as the press release details:

On the Pokémon Global Link’s new Reports page, players can view and analyse previously unavailable Global Battle Union and Wi-Fi Competition information such as the most popular Pokémon used by top players. The Reports page will also track Ratings and Rankings for players all over the world who battle via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. And, in the page’s Game Sync World Records section, players can view how countried around the world rank in different game stats, including top cycling locations, top healing locations, top battling locations, and more. The new My Page section will make it easier to track your own game’s progress and statistics, including personal reports like Global Battle Union results, Global Trade Station trades, and more.

The Pokémon Dream World will also see the addition of a brand-new area – the Icy Cave, where ‘mon of the Ice type can be caught.

Unfortunately, when Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 launch across Europe and in North America in Autumn, the Dream World will only be accessible by those with the new game, with the original Black and White losing compatibility.

Have you used the Pokémon Global Link in the past? If you’re looking for more information, Nintendo will announce more Black 2 and White 2-exclusive features later this year.
